DetailsThe XMP spec supports embedding the metadata inside the files, but also supports keeping the metadata in a "sidecar" file -- sits off to the side of the original -- so the original doesn't get modified.
It would be nice to support these sidecar files on import, which, thanks to the way we handle multiple files, may be tricky. Even better, IMO, would be to support the creation of XMP sidecar files on export; this way all metadata we track could be exported in a more sane manner. |

I would like to have the import function, because I often use Adobe Bridge to edit the IPTC-data for my nef-files and Bridge saves them in XMP sidecar files.
